Dr. Erick Almendarez
PT, DPT
Dr. Almendarez earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree from Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, NY. He has worked with various patient populations which include athletes, pediatrics, geriatrics, orthopedics, neurological rehabilitation, and post-operative care. Erick has worked in the physical therapy industry since he was 17, starting off as an aide at a local clinic in Huntington, NY.

Prior to receiving his DPT degree and coming to Balance Physical Therapy, Erick received his bachelor’s degree in Biology at SUNY Stony Brook University. During his time at Stony Brook, he participated in the Animation Perspective Club and the Wrestling Club. He also had the pleasure of volunteering at the Rehabilitation Research and Movement Performance (RRAMP) lab, investigating health outcomes of locomotor training in participants with spinal cord injury.

One of the reasons Erick became interested in Physical Therapy was because of his mother. She worked for a physical therapist office as a part time aide and would bring Erick to the office growing up. She would let him interact in a welcoming environment with the treating therapist and patients. This led him to exploring the profession when he got into college.

Outside of work, Erick loves going on hikes, dancing, going to the beach, eating sushi, watching movies and anime. He recently moved across the country with his wonderful fiancé Katherine to join the Balance Physical Therapy team!
